Doomsnight vs. Catchy-22

BY AGATHON FRIC

ROUND 1: FORMAT FIGHT
DOOMSNIGHT: Starring other worldly creatures and kids that could pass for E.T., DOOMSNIGHT chronicles standalone tall tales of everything strange. It’s the perfect read before bedtime to scare the living daylights out of you!
CATCHY-22: This futuristic drama is an ongoing adventure that somehow always ends in three nail-biting words: “To Be Continued”. New readers to CATCHY-22 may be lost in terms of the story but suspense is always present.

Dum Dum lost “Da DAT”! DOOMSNIGHT dominates Round 1.
SCORE: DOOMSNIGHT – 1
CATCHY-22 – 0

ROUND 2: WRITER RAGE
DOOMSNIGHT: It’s a little known fact that the NFA comic writers compete for supremacy and of course, the better comic. DOOMSNIGHT is written by a different person every time with recurring writers that just can’t get enough “Alligator Eyes”. Each nightmare on paper is as diverse as its unique author.
CATCHY-22: If you think the “doomed” writers sound odd, you obviously haven’t met B. Romario – international man of mystery or your average Joe? CATCHY-22 is his twisted brainchild and one-of-a-kind story. Where he gets his ideas, nobody knows.

B. Romario would give Austin Powers a run for his money! The score is tied…
SCORE: DOOMSNIGHT – 1
CATCHY-22 – 1

ROUND 3: CHARACTER CONFRONTATION
DOOMSNIGHT: The characters in DOOMSNIGHT are, in essence, freaks. Whether you call them freaks, geeks, or just plain weirdoes the bottom line is the characters are all very strange.
CATCHY-22: The cast of CATCHY-22 is arguably just as strange as students at Northview or Keswick High School. Nikki Knight is an ex-Popstar as is Toffy Bar. Let’s not forget that the oh-so-glamorous Candy Cook is (or at least was) a Pop singer, too.

Hold on. Freaks? Popstars? And here I thought Popstars were freaks! Nikki grabs a point “FRM BNTH”!
SCORE: DOOMSNIGHT – 1
CATCHY-22 – 2

ROUND 4: FREQUENCY FUSS
DOOMSNIGHT: This creepy comic was a monthly regular one year ago. Now it’s found in THE MAG only four times a year. If you suffer from DOOMSNIGHT withdrawal, turn to SCREAMGAL for relief.
CATCHY-22: B. Romario delivers a new action-packed instalment of C-22 in almost every issue of THE MAG (except this one!). There’s no doubt about it, this comic is “Much On Demand”.

There’s no “Interference” from DOOMSNIGHT! CATCHY scores again.
SCORE: DOOMSNIGHT – 1
CATCHY-22 – 3

ROUND 5: THE STORY SO FAR
DOOMSNIGHT: DOOMSNIGHT has played host to the most haunted house in the town of Borely in “The House With Windows That Laugh”, an internet mystery in “2MCH”, a mutant in “Other”, a garbage nightmare in “The Wasters”, short-tempered movie goers in “Spoiler”, and more!
CATCHY-22: Previously on CATCHY-22 we met Nikki Knight: a singer fighting to stop free music downloads. Then she was axed by the UFM and arrested for the murder of Candy Cook, brainwashed into thinking her life was a video game and rescued by the Alliance. What will happen next?

Lucky for Candy Cook, DOOMSNIGHT is the “Biggest Loser in the World”.
SCORE: DOOMSNIGHT – 1
CATCHY-22 – 4

ROUND UP: “The Bribe Has Spoken”. While DOOMSNIGHT is loved by many, CATCHY-22’s originality and brilliance is often given the cold shoulder. Give it a chance before drawing conclusions. After all, that’s the way the cookie “Crumbles”.
