News of the Weird: This Street's Poppin' Fresh

Bubble Wrap turned fifty this year. And what better way to celebrate than to wrap an entire street in it? The 1,500 square meter spectacle was actually a way to raise awareness about the number of accidents that take place on a Somerville Road in Worcester. So many accident claims are registered here that the street is also known as “Accident Avenue.” So a website decided to wrap everything from the cars on the street to the trees and garden gnomes on residents’ front yards in bubble wrap. It took about twelve hours. A Worcester man who saw the result said, “I think it is a really amusing idea, although I don't know how long it will be until someone starts popping the bubbles."
