We're all super pumped about the upcoming stars that have signed on to appear on GLEE next season (Kate Hudson, Sarah Jessica Parker, Britney Spears again.) But until then, we figured we'd give a little recap of some of our favourite stars who have already graced the gang at McKinley High!
10. Olivia Newton-John (as herself)
Maybe it’s the fact that she’s made a name for herself by playing sweet Sandy in GREASE, but it was odd to see Olivia Newton-John play someone who is so self-centred! She was almost like the celebrity version of Sue Sylvester… without the tracksuits.
9. Britney Spears (as herself)
Forget her personal life: there’s no denying that Britney’s music is iconic. It was completely unexpected to see her dressed as a McKinley cheerleader in the episode that honoured her songs!
8. Neil Patrick Harris (as Bryan Ryan)
Neil Patrick Harris won an Emmy award for his guest role on GLEE, so it’s no surprise that we thought he was amazing! Even though he played the villain, we couldn’t help but feel pity for him.
7. Eve (as Grace Hitchens)
Eve brought the same sort of power to the show that Idina Menzel did. Her character’s desire to help the delinquent girls of Jane Addams is truly inspiring, even if her methods are somewhat shady.
5. Ricky Martin (as David Martinez)
With his one episode, Ricky Martin put the “Spanish” back in “Spanish Teacher.” His energy and ability to speak the language put poor Mr. Schuester to shame, but of course, important lessons were learned.
4. Jonathan Groff (as Jesse St. James)
Jonathan Groff made evil look good as Jesse St. James. He was the guy who always had a hidden agenda, which kept viewers on the edge of their seats and questioning his every move.
3. Idina Menzel (as Shelby Corcoran)
Anyone who’s seen WICKED probably jumped for joy when this Broadway veteran first appeared as Rachel’s birth mom. Her talent made every scene and song amazing and powerful. Also, is anyone else unnerved by how much she looks like Lea Michele?
2. Kristin Chenoweth (as April Rhodes)
She sounds like she’s been inhaling helium, but we could probably listen to her sing all day! Her character is totally out there but you somehow end up respecting her, even though she’s introduced to the show as a “washed-up has-been.”
1. Gwyneth Paltrow (as Holly Holliday)
Holly Holliday is a reckless risk-taker who is totally over-the-top: basically she’s the exact opposite of Will Schuester. Gwyneth Paltrow was the perfect actress for such an outgoing role and she added life to McKinley with her funny quips and rock star attitude.
