The highly anticipated stop-motion film, PARANORMAN, is hitting theatres on August 17th. However, its soundtrack will be dropping tomorrow at a music store near you. The soundtrack was solely based on the works of the famed composer, record producer, singer and songwriter Jon Brion.
Brion is no stranger to the Hollywood scene. He has worked and performed with talents such as Fiona Apple, Aimee Mann, Kanye West, Rufus Wainwright and Evan Dando. He has also arranged and conducted the orchestra for Tom Petty's albums. Jon Brion has been nominated twice for a Grammy award and he continues to play monthly shows at the Café Largo. The PARANORMAN production team used Brion's previous music as "temp tracks" during the early development of the film. While PARANORMAN was Brion's first shot at scoring an animated film, his work can also be heard in the upcoming release of Pixar's UMBRELLA SHORTS.
Eager fans can get into the PARANORMAN spirit through the soundtrack, which reveals more about the film's mood and plot. PARANORMAN is about a boy named Norman who has the ability to speak with the dead. When his small hometown is attacked by ghosts, zombies, witches and grown-ups, Norman must step up to save his town from a centuries-old curse.
Here are some of the songs that will be on the PARANORMAN soundtrack:
