What did you have for dinner last night? Whatever it was, we bet it didn't cost anywhere near $14,000!

A man swallowed a 1.5 carat diamond at the annual jewelry show, Facets Sri Lanka in Sri Lanka's capital, Colombo. The diamond belonged to Suresh de Silva, who says that one man distracted him while another attempted to steal the diamond. It's believed that the diamond was swallowed in panic when de Silva caught on to the ploy and alerted police.

The diamond-eater was taken to hospital and given laxatives, but X-rays showed that the diamond is lodged in his gullet and is unable to move any further down. Since there is a fear that the diamond's pointy end could puncture the gut, it will have to be removed with surgery.

In this guy's case, diamonds aren't forever!
