WIZARDS OF WAVERLY PLACE Returns in 2013

It seems like it was just yesterday that we were mourning the end WIZARDS OF WAVERLY PLACE. The Disney Channel Original Series was on for nearly five years and even won three Emmy Awards during its run. The show followed the Russo family as they dealt with both wizardly and real life challenges. The series ended in January 2012, with Alex (Selena Gomez) becoming the family wizard, Justin becoming the new headmaster of WizTech and Max getting to run the sub shop.

The good news is, this isn't the last we'll be hearing of the Russos. Yesterday, Disney Channel announced that the entire cast of WIZARDS OF WAVERLY PLACE will be returning for an hour-long reunion special, set to premiere in early 2013!

The special, to be executive produced by Selena Gomez, will follow the Russos as they travel to Tuscany to visit their long-lost Italian relatives. In the process of trying to prove to her family that she is responsible wizard, Alex casts a spell to create two versions of herself: an evil Alex and a good Alex. This results in an epic battle atop the Leaning Tower of Pisa and plenty of that Russo family drama that we've grown to love and miss.

Production of the special will begin in October 2012, so keep an eye out for the official premiere date! How excited are you for the WIZARDS OF WAVERLY PLACE reunion?
