Anyone excited for this? I really, really want to see this...although I'm worried that there are too many excellent things going for the movie and that might screw it up. I mean, its directed by Christopher Nolan (who is great), has Leonardo DiCaprio and Ellen Page (basically a great cast in all when you look at the full list), and a very interesting premise. It appears as though nothing could go wrong....which is always a bit worrisome to me. Whatever, I'm seeing it anyway when it's out. If you don't know the premise, here's the summary from Warner Bros.:

QUOTE
Dom Cobb is a skilled thief, the absolute best in the dangerous art of extraction, stealing valuable secrets from deep within the subconscious during the dream state, when the mind is at its most vulnerable. Cobb's rare ability has made him a coveted player in this treacherous new world of corporate espionage, but it has also made him an international fugitive and cost him everything he has ever loved. Now Cobb is being offered a chance at redemption. One last job could give him his life back but only if he can accomplish the impossible-inception. Instead of the perfect heist, Cobb and his team of specialists have to pull off the reverse: their task is not to steal an idea but to plant one. If they succeed, it could be the perfect crime. But no amount of careful planning or expertise can prepare the team for the dangerous enemy that seems to predict their every move. An enemy that only Cobb could have seen coming.

I really like the premise, because the whole idea of being able to look into someone's mind and steal their exact ideas and secrets is one that is very frightening to me. Being a creative person who wants to have a career as a writer, and taking courses to help me gather a portfolio, I've actually gotten kinda paranoid about the theft of ideas, as its very easy for people to do that if you aren't careful. Especially since various people in my classes seem to like my ideas for whatever reason. But I think any sort of ability to discover what's in someone else's mind is unnerving, because I think there's a lot of dark and messy objects in every person's mind. And to steal those objects to use as a weapon or as information is scary. But anyway, that's why in a nutshell that I'm interested in this film...can't wait to see it.

Well? Who wins in the epic battle? And I don't think it's as easy to answer as it may first appear to be.

So, been browsing through the music section, and realized that the Lady doesn't have her own topic. So, I needed to correct this by starting one.

I love Gaga. I think she's awesome and brilliant, and has a great career ahead of her.

In all honesty, when she first came out I tried very hard to hate her, because everyone kept comparing her to to Madonna (who is my absolute favorite musician/performer), and there's no one who has ever come close to being Madonna (Britney isn't, and never has been, close to being Madonna).

But I've grown to absolutely adore Gaga and her awesome weirdness. I love her performances and her music videos, and always anticipate their new releases. I wouldn't call her a genius or icon just yet, like a lot of her fans do. Before she can be called that, I think we have to see if she can stand the test of time. I mean, Madonna has been around for 25 years in the pop industry, and is constantly changing and putting out hit cds. She fully deserves her iconic status. I think Gaga definitely has the same potential, and hope that she'll continue to release songs and amazing videos.

Anyway, right now I think my favorite video of hers is Bad Romance. I also very much like her new Alejandro video too.

Any fans of this show here? I still can't understand why it was cancelled, it was pretty good.

Anyway, if you've never heard of it, it's a show that ran for 2 seasons that's about grim reapers. Georgia, or George, is the main character. She's died, but before she can go to her afterlife, she has to collect souls and help them get their afterlife. I enjoy the show because there's definitely black humour in it, and it's a little similar to Pushing Daisies (in fact, it was created by Bryan Fuller, the same guy who created Pushing Daisies). It also stars Mandy Patinkin, who is awesome, and if you don't know him, that's Inigo Montoya to you, and if you killed his father, be prepared to die.

So, this has been out for awhile, but no one posted a topic for it.....so I figured I would.

I love these videos...for anyone who doesn't know, a group of students at the University of Michigan (I believe that was the university...) actually wrote and put on a Harry Potter musical. It's so well done, and completely hilarious, so if you haven't seen it, I suggest you watch....I've watched it something like 5 times already...I love Voldemort and Quirrel and Malfoy!
