2010 In Film

What are some of the movies you are anticipating in 2010?

Some I can think of off the top of my head are, The A-Team, Date Night, The Expendables, Ironman 2, Alice in Wonderland, and Robin Hood.

The Soloist

Steve Lopez, (Robert Downey Jr.) while writing a column for the Los Angeles Times, develops a close freindship with Nathaniel Ayers, (Jamie Foxx) a musical prodigy who becomes schizophrenic and homeless.
The Soloist is directed by Joe Wright (Pride and Prejudice, Atonement) and is set to be released on April 24.

Moon

Sam Bell (Sam Rockwell) is a lone lunar employee who is conrtacted for three years, to mine on the moon the natural gas Helium 3. This gas could reverse Earth's energy crisis. Sam's only companion on the moon is a robit named Gertie (voiced by Kevin Spacey). Two weeks before the end of the three year assignment Sam realises someone else is on the moon and suspects the lunar company who hired him is trying to get rid of him.

Public Enemies

In 1930s America, Melvin Purvis (Christian Bale) is appointed by J. Edgar Hoover, (Billy Cudrup) The first Director of the F.B.I., to lead the manhunt against several big time criminals such as John Dillinger, (Johnny Depp) Baby Face Nelson, and Pretty Boy Floyd.

Ironman 2

The film is curently under development. The script is being written by Justin Theroux. The film will introduce Ironman's main villain The Mandrain.

Jon Favreau revealed their version of the Mandarin "allows us to incorporate the whole pantheon of villains", while S.H.I.E.L.D. will continue to have a major role. Tony Stark will also deal with his alchol problems like he did in comics.

One of the biggest changes in the sequal will be the replacment of Terrnace Howard by Don Cheadle.Howard's salary, resulted in him dropping out. Howard, however, said, "There was no explanation [...] apparently the contracts that we write and sign aren't worth the paper that they're printed on, sometimes. Promises aren't kept, and good faith negotiations aren't always held up." Beforehand, Cheadle commented he is a comic book fan, but felt there are not enough black superheroes.

The film is curently scheduled to be released on My 7, 2010.
