There has been a fair amount of hype about Google's futuristic glasses. The glasses were meant to have screens which would appear full sized to the wearer and would display Internet sites, maps and other functions that a smartphone would usually have.

Unfortunately, Google X has said that the final product isn’t as great as they thought it would be. Instead of a full lens screen, an image will only appear at the very top of one of the lenses and the colour graphics will be much simpler than the original concept and might possibly not be in colour at all.

Google X says that the glasses are still a technological novelty, which they are, but it’s disappointing to hear that the Google glasses haven’t lived up to their expectations. You gave it your best shot, Google! We're still proud of you.

Move over "dog ate my homework" excuse, there's a new alibi in town: "homework is causing me PHYSICAL pain!" It sounds a little out there, but it turns out carrying your homework back and fourth from school to homework – while good for the mind – is bad on the back.

Studies have shown that heavy bags are actually doing serious damage to students’ backs. A staggering amount of students under the age of 16 are going to the chiropractor with complaints of back and neck ache due to the immense loads they carry to and from school every day.

To prevent back injury, you should technically only be carrying 10% of your weight on your back, but some students end up lifting as much as 60% – that’s like giving someone who weighs more than half of you a piggyback ride daily.

Telling teachers to photocopy textbooks and give out a few sheets at a time is pretty unrealistic, but there are ways to minimize the amount of damage done by schoolbags. Pack the heaviest books closest to the back and the lightest closets to the front to keep the weight properly distributed. Make sure the straps are snug and around both shoulders.

Don’t carry one strapped bags – those will make you lean to one side and will consequently make your shoulders lopsided. Who wants a sore back AND crooked shoulders?

The more we hear stories like this, the more we're on board with the idea of infiltrating school's with iPads and iBook's 2.

The portion size is way bigger if compared to something from last week!

You’re never too young to make a change and that much can be seen from the effects that Martha’s blog has had on her school’s lunch menu. A little while back, we wrote about how Martha, a nine year old student, started a blog documenting the horrible school lunches that she and her peers have been served every day at her primary school in Scotland.

Her crusade against unhealthy and disgusting food has been quite the success story! On her blog, she posted that the school’s council had actually visited her school during lunch to inspect the situation. Something that Martha complained about was portion sizes, which is unsurprising if you take a look at the photos. Her blog inspired the school to add an unlimited salad, fruit and bread bar. They’re also trying to make desserts healthier by having the option of iced or not iced cupcakes…small change, but at least they’re making an effort.

Her blog, Never Seconds, has received lots of attention from the media, both in the UK and internationally. People from Taiwan, Spain, Germany and Canada are leaving comments on the blog, encouraging Martha to keep up with her quest to bring better food to her school’s cafeteria.

You can visit Martha’s blog at neverseconds.blogspot.ca.

Forbes has just released its annual Most Powerful Celebrities list, and it’s a strange yet predictable concoction of names in the top 10.

Number one goes to actor and singer extraordinaire Jennifer Lopez, mainly because of her recent judging duties on AMERICAN IDOL… which is funny, because we thought AMERICAN IDOL were getting a bit tired (maybe that’s why she’s leaving the show). She also topped the list because of the $52 million she made last year.

Coming in at second is – surprise, surprise – Oprah. We all know why her name will be gracing this list for years to come.

But number three was a bit more surprising (or was it?): Justin Bieber! The Canadian-born superstar landed the third spot because of his record-breaking YouTube hits, the $55 million he made last year, and because of his celebrity entourage, including GF Selena Gomez. He was also chosen to grace the cover.

The whole 100 list features names like Adam Sandler, Johnny Depp, Sandra Bullock, J.K. Rowling, Skrillex, Toby Keith, Ellen Degeneres, and many more, but here are the top ten:
1. Jennifer Lopez
2. Oprah Winfrey
3. Justin Bieber
4. Rihanna
5. Lady Gaga
6. Britney Spears
7. Kim Kardashian
8. Katy Perry
9. Tom Cruise
10. Steven Spielberg

Kardashian beat out Spielberg? That’s unfortunate.

We don’t call dog’s “mans best friend” for nothing! 58-year-old Victoria Shaw will likely be calling her little Yorkshire terrier, Louise, her BFF for a long time to come.

Shaw suffers from poor eyesight due to glaucoma as well as arthritis. She had trained nine-year-old Louise to press emergency panic button installed in her house in case anything were to happen to her. But she always treated it as a kind of game with the dog, and never really thought Louise could ever put the skill to use.

Thankfully, that little game paid off after Shaw tripped after coming out of the shower. She twister her leg, hit her head, and passed out on the ground. Her dog was able to recognize that this wasn’t a game, and pressed the panic button that alerted an emergency response unit to come and help her.

Louise the dog was found beside Shaw, and was thought to have stayed by her side the whole time after pushing the panic button.

Not being a regular dog trainer, Shaw never thought in a million years that the panic-button “game” would ever actually work, but Louise proved he’s more than an adorable face!

While we haven’t been a fan of all of the episodes this season, we’ve certainly been a fan of the music! Thankfully there’s a new GLEE album out today to help us commemorate the best singles from the season so far.

GLEE: THE MUSIC, THE GRADUATION ALBUM features the New Direction's versions of Jason Mraz’s “I Won’t Give Up”, Lady Gaga’s “Edge of Glory”, Queen’s “We Are The Champions,” and – our personal favourite – fun.’s “We Are Young”.

It also gives fans a sneak peek of 8 new songs recorded for the season finale, including and Green Day’s “Good Riddance (Time Of Your Life),” Beyoncé’s “I Was Here,” Bruce Springsteen’s “Glory Days,” and more.

Speaking of sneak peeks, check out the promo below! Two hours featuring Nationals, Lindsey Lohan, and more:

It all goes down tonight on FOX/Global at 8 p.m.
